COLLEGE FOOTBALL: UK moving ahead with kicking off 2020 season

The Southeastern Conference football schools have made it very clear they want to play this fall.

Kentucky, SEC teams and five other subdivision leagues are going about business under close watch during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

UK officials have said no current member of the UK team has opted to not play. The NCAA has mandated that any players who wish to do so will have their scholarships honored by their respected school.

The Wildcats are scheduled to open the season on Sept. 26. Meanwhile, all other fall sports have been postponed through the end of August.

Kentucky’s return to Kroger Field will likely be played before a limited number of fans. The school will need to look at refunding money to season ticket holders, who have already lost out on two home games which have been canceled.

The SEC joins the Big 12 and Atlantic Coast Conference as conferences moving ahead. The PAC-12, Mountain West and Mid-South Conference have all pulled the plug on the season.

The Big-10 is weighing the option of playing this spring.

Kentucky will open its season at Auburn on Sept. 26.
