The Wildcat infielder earns third-team honors for work in the classroom
Graduate senior Daniel Harris IV has been voted a 2022 Academic All-American, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He was voted to the third team by a panel of voters.
The honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSida Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Harris, from Stone Mountain, Georgia, transferred to UK last summer from Eastern Kentucky University. He has earned a 4.0 grade point average while receiving his graduate certificate in sports, fitness and recreation management. He achieved a 3.8 cumulative undergraduate GPA while at Eastern.
Harris ranked second on the team at .310 in 203 at-bats with 39 runs, 14 extra-base hits and 28 RBI. He stole 16 bases in 17 attempts this season and was named to the Southeastern Conference All-Tournament Team. He is the third player during coach Nick Mingione’s tenure to earn Academic All-America honors, joining Marshall Gei (2019) and T.J. Collett (2021).
