HATFIELD-MCCOY SHOOTOUT: Close games highlight tourney

WILLIAMSON – Mingo Central pulled away from Belfry in the fourth quarter and went on to score a 57-45 win in the final game of the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout played at historic Williamson Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

Drew Hatfield stripped the nets for a game-high 30 points and Devin Hatfield added 15 as the Miners moved to 5-3.

Sal Dean paced the Pirates, now 6-5, with 19 points and Brett Coleman followed with 12.

WILLIAMSON – Pikeville held off Tug Valley’s second-half comeback to earn a narrow 53-51 win in the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout on Saturday night.

Grayson Harris led the Panthers with 21 points and Nick Robinson tossed in 10 as Pikeville improved to 8-6.

Ian Reed paced Tug Valley (4-5) with 16 points while Ethan Colegrove net 11 and Justin Hall chipped in nine.

WILLIAMSON – South Charleston shut down Shelby Valley offensively and went on to hand the Wildcats a 54-33 setback in the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout played on Saturday.

Kaden Robinson was the only Wildcat to score in double figures as he finished with 10 as Valley dropped to 12-4.

WILLIAMSON – East Ridge landed four players in double-figure scoring but it wasn’t enough to slow down Scott which escaped with an 80-72 win in the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout played Saturday.

Dalton Wellman led the Warriors, now 4-9, with 17 points while John Mills and Braxton Stanley finished with 14 each. Hunter Damron tossed in 11.

WILLIAMSON – Mingo Central and Phelps battled right down to the wire before the Miners escaped with a 45-43 win on the opening night of the Hatfield-McCoy Tournament on Friday.

Devin Hatfield finished with 16 points to lead the Miners, now 4-3. Colton Blankenship had 12 and Drew Hatfield tallied nine.

Phelps’ Trey Francis had 15 points and 21 rebounds, including 12 in the first half, as the Hornets fell to 7-8. Dominick Francis followed with 14 points.

WILLIAMSON – Tug Valley used a big third period to pull away and beat Wyoming East, 69-55, on the opening night of the Hatfield-McCoy Tournament on Friday.

Ethan Colegrove poured in 23 points and Caleb May added 15 as the Panthers even their record at 4-4. Ian Reed and Zach Savage chipped in eight each.
