HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Blackcats rough up Jags; Belfry edges Man

Prestonsburg scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning and went on to beat Floyd Central, 12-2, in a game played at StoneCrest Sports Complex on Tuesday night.

Jon Little had three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs as the Blackcats improved to 9-4. Nic Kidd and Wesley Salisbury each batted in a pair of runs along with Payton Burke and Brayden Slone.

Matt Welch was the winning pitcher.

Max Martin singled and scored two runs for the Jaguars, now 5-11. Brant Potter had an RBI. Dylan Mosley took the loss.

Man scored early and often as the Hillbillies defeated Van, 12-0, in a game played at William “Tootie” Carter Field on Tuesday night.

Caleb Vance had two hits, including a double, walked twice and drove in three runs while scoring three times as the Hillbillies improved to 5-3. Preston Blankenship drove in three runs and Casey Hurley in a pair.

Belfry built a five-run lead against Man and the Pirates held on for a 6-5 win in a game played at William “Tootie” Carter Field on Tuesday night.

The Pirates, now 10-6, beat Man (4-3) for the second time this season.

Steven Banks had two hits and drove in three runs while Gage Fields added a pair of singles, scored twice, and added an RBI.

Chase Justice was the winning pitcher.

Casey Hurley collected three hits for Man, including a double while losing pitcher Preston Blankenship doubled, singled, scored and drove in one run.

Paintsville continued its dominance of regional foes with a 17-1 road win over Martin County on Tuesday night.

Ashton Miller had two hits, including a triple, scored, and batted in a pair of runs for the Tigers, now 14-2. Jonah Porter added two singles, scored two runs, and knocked in three. Cory Jefferson and Zach Taylor each knocked in two runs. Taylor scored three times.
