HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Cardinals fall at Wolfe; PCC nips Whitley

Martin County scored 33 points in the final eight minutes, but it was not enough as Wolfe County turned back the Cardinals, 81-76, in a game played on Saturday.

Brady Dingess poured in 25 points to pace Martin County, now 5-8. Luke Hale added 20 and Parker Davis had 11. Jordan Dalton chipped in eight.

Pike Central took the lead away from Whitley County in the final minutes and held on for a 62-56 win in the Ted Cook Classic played at South Laurel High School on Saturday.

Josh Du Toit paced the Hawks, now 9-6, with a game-high 21 points while Jaylin Rigdon and Bryce Adkins added 12 each. Latee Childress net nine.

Jordan Frazier led the way with 23 points as the Bobcats moved to 7-5. Brady Robinson followed with 18 and Chase Mims net 15. Byron Tackett tossed in 11.

Trenton Adkins had a game-high 25 for the Bulldogs, who fell to 6-5. Cody Maynard tallied 15 and Baden Gillespie added 10.

Bol Kuir finished with 21 points, 16 rebounds and five blocked shots to pace the Pirates (7-7). Tyler Chaffin added 17 and Ben McNamee 11. Sal Dean net 10.

Brady Dingess had a game-high 30 points foe Martin County, now 5-7. Luke Hale followed with 15 and Jacob Butcher tossed in eight.
