HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Cold shooting dooms Pikeville in semifinals

All you need to do is look at the numbers to breakdown Pikeville’s 48-32 loss to Covington Holy Cross in the girls’ All “A” Classic state tournament semifinal matchup played at McBrayer Arena in Richmond early Saturday morning.

  • The Lady Panthers made just 12-of-50 attempts from the floor
  • Pikeville made only 4-of-19 three-point shots
  • Converted on 4-of-9 from the foul line
  • Turned the basketball over 12 times.
  • Scored just four points in a span of 10 minutes.

It just wasn’t in the cards as the Lady Panthers dropped to 18-5.

Pikeville had just one player score in double digits as Kristen Whited tallied 10. Trinity Rowe finished with eight. Rylee Theiss grabeed nine rebounds.

Kyera Thornsbury and Rowe were named to the All-Tournament team.
