The Shelby Valley Lady Kats took the top spot in the initial Mountain Top Sports Super 7 girls’ basketball poll released on Tuesday.
They have opened the season with a perfect 5-0 mark and are coming off winning the Mountain Classic championship.
Defending 15th Region champion Pikeville (3-1) is second, followed by Floyd Central (5-0) at No. 3.
Martin County grabs the No. 4 spot after starting the season with six straight wins without a loss.
Rounding out the poll are Letcher Central (5-2) at No. 5, followed by sixth-ranked Lawrence County (3-1) and Mingo Central (3-0) is seventh.
Receiving votes are Logan (3-0), Paintsville (3-1) and Betsy Layne (4-2).
