HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Lady Tigers slip past Lady Hawks; Lady Jags roll

Paintsville’s Kylie Kinner, in her first varsity start, poured in 18 points to help the Lady Tigers to a 57-51 season-opening win over Pike County Central at home on Tuesday night.

Camryn Helton and Leandra Curnutte followed with 10 each. Ava Hyden chipped in nine.

Pike Central’s Hannah May led all scorers with 19 points. Lindsay Bowman tossed in 11.

The Lady Hawks will play at East Ridge (0-1) and the Lady Tigers host Betsy Layne (1-0) on Dec. 3.

Floyd Central ran out to a big lead early against Perry Central and went on to score a 71-36 win in the home opener played on Tuesday night.

Grace Martin led a balanced scoring attack with 19 points. Riley Compton followed with 12 while Kamryn Shannon and Kennedy Harve added nine each. Chelsea Johnson scored eight.
