HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Lady Tigers top Lady Hawks; LCHS, Martin County post wins

Paintsville held off Pike Central down the stretch to score a 58-51 victory in a game played at the Hawks Nest on Wednesday night.

Emilea Preece poured in a game-high 21 points as the Lady Tigers moved to 10-6. Ava Hyden followed with 12 while Kylie Kinner and Camryn Helton added 11 each.

Hannah May led Central, now 5-9, with 12 points. Emalie Tackett tallied 11 while Chloe Hannah and Abigail Hess net 10 piece.

Lawrence County sharpshooter Kensley Feltner fired in 38 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 68-44 win over Betsy Layne in a home game played on Wednesday night.

Kaison Ward and Sophie Adkins added eight each as Lawrence County improved to 14-5.

Madi Meade paced the Lady Bobcats with 16 points and Kim Akers followed with 13.

Betsy Layne dropped its 10th straight game after opening the season with four wins.

Martin County went on the road and knocked off Jenkins, 68-46, in a game played on Wednesday night.

Laken Williams stripped the nets for a game-high 30 points as the Lady Cardinals improved to 15-3. Katie Marcum finished with 16.

Lindsey Rose had 16 points in the loss as Jenkins fell to 4-13. Cadence Firth chipped in eight.
