HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Pikeville handles Harlan to reach quarterfinals

Pikeville jumped out to a big lead in the opening quarter and the Lady Panthers went on to defeat Harlan, 61-41, in the opening round of the All “A” Classic state tournament matchup played at Corbin Arena late Wednesday night.

Pikeville, now 14-2, advances to the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon and will face Crittenden County, which edged Lexington Christian.

Trinity Rowe led four players in double-figure scoring with a game-high 21 points. Leighan Jackson and Kristen Whited followed with 11 each while Kyera Thornsbury added 10 points and 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
