HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Pikeville, Lawrence, Belfry score wins

Pikeville took the lead away from Russell in the final minutes and held on for a 62-59 win at the Boyd County Roundball Classic played on Saturday.

Charlie Fitzer led four Panthers in double-figure scoring with 16 points. Josh Hughes followed with 14 while Carter Hurley net 13 and Eli Johnson added 12.

Luke Fetherholf paced the Bulldogs with 23 points. Andrew Bloomfield finished with 20 points and Blake Marcum tallied 18.

Ronnie Sammons fired in a game-high 22 points in the loss. Braden Moore finished with 14 and Dylan Boyd tallied 11. Chris Spriggs chipped in nine.
