HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Pikeville rallies past Ashland; Lady Blackcats roll on

Tenth-ranked Pikeville overcame an 11-point deficit, and the Lady Panthers went non to beat Ashland Blazer, 55-49, in the season opener played at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Leighan Jackson finished with a double-double in the win, scoring 14 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.

Trinity Rowe followed with 13 points and Jenna Sparks came off the bench and added eight points.

Pikeville will travel to Boyd County to battle Russell (1-1) in the Boyd County Roundball Classic. Tipoff is 4:30 pm.
