Pikeville pulled away from Shelby Valley in the game’s final seven minutes to earn a 60-42 win in a 59th district game played at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Thursday night.
The Panthers improved to 17-7 while the Wildcats dropped to 16-8.
Rylee Samons finished with a game-high 29 points, including a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line.
Charlie Fitzer followed with 16 and Eli Johnson added 12.
Chaz Brown paced Valley with 11 points and Russ Osborne tallied 10.

Pikeville’s Trinity Rowe scored 20 of her game-high 29 points in the first quarter and the Lady Panthers rolled to an 88-38 win over Shelby Valley in the opening game on Thursday night.
Kyera Thornsbury scored 16 and Kristen Whited finished with 12. Leighan Jackson added nine.
Kyra Looney and Jazzy Meade led the Lady Kats with 10 each. Sadie Johnson net nine.
Pikeville improved to 22-5 while Valley fell to 8-17.
