Pikeville pulled away from Pike Central in the final three minutes to earn a hard-fought 69-64 win in the nightcap of the Pikeville Invitational Tournament played at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Thursday night.
Carter Hurley led a trio of Panthers (3-2) in double figures with 18 points. Charlie Fitzer tallied 17 and Ian Onkst tossed in 15.
Pike Central’s Jaylan Rigdon led all scorers with 35 points for the Hawks, now 2-5. Jaden Stewart was held to nine.

Paintsville’s Emilea Preece and Kylie Kinner each finished with a double double as the Lady Tigers rolled to a 90-50 win over Powell County in the opening round of the City Between the Lakes Christmas Classic played on Wednesday night.
Preece finished with a game-high 32 points and 10 rebounds while Kinner added 14 points and 10 boards. She also went over 1,000 points for her career.
Emma Keeton tallied 17 points and KK Vannoy net 12.
