Pikeville nearly erased a 17-point deficit with under seven minutes remaining, but Boyd County escaped with a 58-56 win in a game played at TW. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
The Panthers, now 7-4, trailed 45-30 heading into the final period and by 17 in the first minute of the final period.
Nick Robinson led Pikeville with a game-high 20 points while Rylee Samons tossed in 14. Laithan Hall chipped in nine and Alex Rogers added eight.

Jordan Frazier led four Bobcats in double figure scoring with a game-high 24 points as Betsy Layne evened its record at 5-5. Brady Robinson followed with 21 and Case Mims tossed in 15. Byron Tackett chipped in 11.
Braxton Stanley paced four Warriors (5-7) in double digit scoring with 18 points and Eli Rose finished with 16. Jon Mills and Eli Sykes netted 11 each.
