Baisden sets state tournament
record for most 3-point goals
in a single game with nine
Tug Valley’s return to the West Virginia girls’ state basketball tournament saw a record-setting performance from junior guard Kaylea Baisden.
Baisden set a new single-game state tournament mark for all classifications with nine three-pointers — and she did it in three quarters, finishing with 33 points, as the Lady Panthers crushed Pendleton County, 67-24, at the Charleston Civic Center Coliseum on Tuesday afternoon.
Audrey Evans added 15 points and Alyssa Newsome tossed in eight.
The Lady Panthers hit 21 field goals, including 14 from three-point range.
Top-ranked Tug Valley, now 13-2, moves onto the semifinals against Tucker County (17-4) at 9 p.m. Thursday night.
