Belfry dominated from the very outset as the Pirates cruised to a 49-7 victory over Pike County Central in the district matchup played at Haywood Stadium on Friday night.
The Pirates improved to 5-2 and claimed the district’s No. 1 seed. The Hawks dropped to 3-4.
Running back Isaac Dixon ran just three times for 112 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Brett Coleman and running back Kyle Webb added first-half touchdowns as well as Belfry built a running clock 36-0 lead.
Brenden Rash and Mikey Hylton scored a touchdown each in the second half.
Keegan Bentley scored a late touchdown for the Hawks as time was running out.
Belfry will travel to Johnson Central (6-0) and Pike Central is at home to Breathitt County (4-0) on Oct. 30. Both games are set for 7:30 pm.
