HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Bulldogs turn away Raiders in playoff opener

Lawrence County overcame an early deficit to beat East Carter, 26-14, in the opening round of the Lass 3A playoffs at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Field on Friday night.

The Bulldogs, now 9-2, will move on to second round play this week, hosting Greenup County on Friday. Kickoff is 7:30 pm.

Quarterback Tallon Pollock passed for 108 yards and one touchdown. Receiver Jake Dearfield hauled in a 64-yard TD reception to push the Bulldogs up 20-7 at the break.

Running back Dylan Ferguson ran for 85 yards and one score on 17 carries. Cody Crum and Ryan Marcum added rushing touchdowns.
