Martin County overcame an early deficit as the Cardinals roared back to crush Knott County Central, 48-16, in the Gingerbread Bowl matchup played at Bank of Hindman Field on Friday night.
The Cardinals, now 2-2, rushed for 394 yards, led by Dawson Mills who carried 12 times for 205 yards and four touchdowns. Branson Smith carried 12 times for 85 yards and two scores.
Jason Maynard had a first-quarter interception return for a 60-yard touchdown to put Martin County ahead for good. Running back Kolby Sparks added 73 yards on 10 carries.
The Cardinals will host George Rogers Clark (1-3) at The Rock on Sept. 17. Kickoff is 8 pm.
