HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Early lead slips away as Valley falls at NL

Shelby Valley’s offense was held scoreless in the second half as the Wildcats dropped a hard-fought 27-12 game at North Laurel on Friday night. 

Quarterback Russ Osborne ran for a pair of short, first-half touchdowns as the Wildcats held a 12-7 lead in the second period. 

Osborne passed for 256 yards, completing 23-of-31 passes. He rushed 15 times for 48 yards. 

Wide receiver Jesse Cook had a big game with nine catches for 117 yards and running back Jayden Newsome had 49 yads on the ground and hauled in seven passes for 80 yards. 

Shelby Valley is idle this week before hosting West Carter (0-3) at Hobart Clay Johnson Field on Sept. 23. Kickoff is at 7:30 pm.
