HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: George Rogers Clark lands Chirico as next head coach

Paintsville head football coach Joe Chirico is leaving to take the head coaching job at George Rogers Clark, the athletic department has confirmed.

The Marshall University defensive star led the Tigers to the school’s first football championship in the school’s 100-year history of the program this past December over Kentucky Country Day.

Chirico has coached at Paintsville since the 2013 season, after serving as an assistant coach there as well as under John Derossett at Prestonsburg.

In his first season the Tigers went 8-4. His overall record at Paintsville in eight seasons is 86-20, with two championship game appearances the past two years.

George Rogers Clark, a Class 6A school, was 3-5 this past season.
