Magoffin County ran into a buzz-saw at Ashland Blazer as the Tomcats beat the Hornets, 49-6, in the opening round of the Class 3A matchup played at Putnam Stadium on Friday night.
The Hornets closed out their first season under Coach John DeRossett at 4-7.
Running back Ben Lafferty scored on a 24-yard pass from Dayton Burchett in the final minutes for the lone score.
