Paintsville and Prestonsburg put on an offensive showcase as the Tigers had just a little more in the tank to escape 40-38, in a game played at Memorial Field on Friday night.
The Tigers won for the first time in three games while the Blackcats dropped to 2-1.
Paintsville quarterback Alex Johnson passed for 155 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 55 yards and two scores.
Running back Cain Grim had 135 yards and 21 carries and scored twice. Receiver Crayson Lauffer caught two passes for 150 yards, both going for touchdowns.
Prestonsburg running back Jacob Rose carried 17 times for 144 yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback Bryce Holbrook passed for 111 yards.
Both teams will be back in action this Friday. The Tigers host Martin County (1-2) while the Blackcats welcome Lewis County. Both games are set for 7:30 pm.
