HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Paintsville reaches district title game with win over BL

The defending champions are still alive.

Paintsville pulled away from Betsy Layne in the second half as the Tigers advanced to the Class 1A district championship game with a 64-22 win at Memorial Field on Friday night.

The Tigers, now 6-5, will travel to Raceland (10-1) on Nov. 12. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.

Running back Harris Phelps rushed for 123 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns. Zach Taylor also rushed for two scores. He had 58 yards on just three rushes.

Quarterback Frederick James passed for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Austin Allen and Bryce McDonald had a TD reception each. Allen picked off two passes and returned both for touchdowns.

Betsy Layne’s Chase Mims passed for 208 yards and one touchdown. Mims rushed for 95 yards. Running back Reese Music added a pair of rushing scores.

Receiver Brady Robinson hauled in six passes for 101 and one score.

The Bobcats season ends at 8-3.
