Shelby Valley’s high-octane offense was on full display as the Wildcats totaled 773 yards in a 68-21 district win over previously unbeaten Prestonsburg in the district matchup played at Josh Francis Memorial field on Friday night.
It was the Wildcats fifth straight win over the Blackcats.
Wildcat running back Jayden Newsome was an unstoppable force, running for 207 yards and five touchdowns as Valley improved to 4-2. Quarterback Russ Osborne passed for 396 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Osborne ran for a score.
Receiver Brady Bentley hauled in 10 catches for 184 yards and a score. Jesse Cook and Jordan Tackett added TD receptions.
John Fields added a rushing touchdown.
Prestonsburg running back Ethan Jarvis carried 11 times for 156 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Blackcats dropped to 6-1. He also caught two passes for 86 yards and a score.
Quarterback Reece Hamilton passed for 114 yards and one score.
Shelby Valley will host Martin County (4-2) at Hobart Clay Johnson Field on Thursday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm. Prestonsburg will travel to West Carter (1-5) on Friday. Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
