HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Tigers hold on to edge Knox Central

Paintsville shutout Knox Central over the game’s final 11 minutes as the Tigers earned a hard-fought 35-30 win in a game played at Memorial Field on Friday night. 

The Tigers snapped a three-game losing streak and moved to 2-3. 

Running back Harris Phelps ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries. Grayson Peters added a short TD run. 

Quarterback A.J. James finished with 187 yards, completing 12-of-16 and one score. Receiver Jonah Porter had six catches for 119 yards and a touchdown. 

Placekicker Carson Holbrook was a perfect five-for-five, the margin of victory. 

Paintsville is idle this week before playing at Perry Central (4-0) on Sept. 30. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
