It was the ending Shelby Valley football wanted.
District power West Carter took control early on and the Comets rolled to a 48-18 victory over the injury-riddled Wildcats in the district championship game played on Friday night.
The Wildcats finish the season at 8-3.
Quarterback Russ Osborne passed for 163 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. Anthony Pallotta hauled in a 69-yard scoring pass and Lincoln Billiter added a 17-yard TD reception. Pallotta had two catches for 116 yards.
Running back Ethan Bentley, who ran for 66 yards on 10 carries, put Valley on the board in the second period with a two-yard touchdown run.
West Carter running back Leetavious Cline ran for 168 yards and one score. Quarterback Orry Perry tossed four touchdown passes and ran for another.
