HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Valley gets past Martin County in shootout

Shelby Valley put up big offensive numbers as the Wildcats outscored Martin County, 49-36, in a game played at Teco Field on Friday night.

The Wildcats, now 4-1, amassed 564 yards in the win.

Wildcat quarterback Russ Osborne completed 12 of 17 passes for 233 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Jayden Newsome ran 21 times for 229 yards and three scores. He also hauled in two passes for 50 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Osborne tossed other TD passes to Anthony Pallotta, Lincoln Billiter and Jesse Cook. Pallotta had three catches for 57 yards. Billiter hauled in two passes for 53 yards. He also led the defense with 14 tackles.

Jordan Little finished with 13 tackles while Ethan Bentley picked off two passes and Keian Worrix had one.

Martin County running back Logan Proctor ran for 109 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries. Branson Smith added 109 yards and one score while Parker Davis hauled in two passes for 64 yards and a touchdown.

The Wildcats will visit the Reservation to tackle East Ridge (1-4) while the Cardinals host West Carter (5-0) at The Rock on Oct. 16. Both games will kick at 7:30 pm.
