Shelby Valley’s post-season run came to an end as state powerhouse Beechwood downed the Wildcats, 49-12, in the Class 2A regional championship game played at Edgar McNabb Field on Friday night.
The Wildcats finished the season at 10-3 and played without quarterback Russ Osborne who suffered a broken collarbone in a 28-21 win over Middlesboro in the second round.
Backup quarterback Brady Johnson passed for 95 yards and one touchdown – a 56-yard toss to Brady Bentley. He had four catches for 78 yards.
Running back Jayden Newsome added a five-yard TD run and finished with 61 yards.
