Shelby Valley’s defense came up big on the road as the Wildcats defeated Lawrence County, 14-0, in the Farm Bureau Bowl played on the new turf at Luke Varney Jr, Memorial Stadium on Friday night.
Quarterback Russ Osborne tossed a six-yard scoring strike to Brady Bentley in the first half and then ran nine yards in the final quarter to put te game out of reach.
Osborne passed for 79 yards and ran for 61 as Valley moved to 1-1. Bentley caught four passes for 34 yards.
The Bulldogs, now 1-1, rushed for just 18 yards and passed for 19 yards. Ean Ratliff and Osborne each had an interception for the Wildcats.
Both teams return to action on Friday night as the Wildcats host Martin County (1-1) while the Bulldogs host Perry County Central (2-0). Both games will kick at 7:30 pm.
