Shelby Valley ended Betsy Layne’s seven-game winning as the Wildcats knocked off the Bobcats, 60-25, in the showdown played at Hobart Clay Johnson Field on Friday night.
Valley improved to 5-3 while Betsy Layne dropped to 7-1. The seven wins to start the season was the longest in school history.
Quarterback Russ Osborne passed for 253 yards and a pair of touchdowns – one each to Brady Bentley and John Fields. Bentley caught eight passes for 105 yards.
Running back Brett Sturgill carried 10 times for 96 yards and three touchdowns. Clark Craft had 80 yards and two scores on 10 rushes.
Shelby Valley will play at East Ridge (4-4) on Friday night while the Bobcats host Pike Central (5-3). Both games are set for 7:30 pm.
