HIGH SCHOOL: Practice on hold for Logan County teams

West Virginia high school football teams opened practice shortly after midnight except for Logan County’s three programs.

In coordination with the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (WVSSAC), Governor Jim Justice implemented a color-code system to approve or halt athletics.

Logan County stands in the red category (the most active cases spreading), thus keeping Chapmanville, Logan, and Man from being on the field.

The outbreak in Logan County puts the season openers for all three schools in doubt.

Mingo County schools, which include Mingo Central and Tug Valley, are in the orange, which limits players to practice only and no competition.

The four phases of the map include green, yellow, orange and red.

WVSSAC officials will work with school administrators regarding fan attendance for those schools in the green and yellow phases.
