HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Pikeville wins in shootout with Belfry

Pikeville scored on a shootout goal after stopping Belfry to earn a 3-2 win in a match played at Bob Amos Soccer Complex on Monday night.

Tyler Slone and Dalton Stacy scored for the Pirates, now 3-4-0, in regulation.

Noah Howie and Jacob Rogers had goals for the Panthers, now 4-7-1.

Each team scored three goal each in penalty kicks.

Pikeville goalkeeper Bryson Collins had 18 saves as Belfry took 27 shots on goal.

Belfry’s Rico Lee stopped 14 shots as the Panthers took 24.

Shelby Valley…..1

Belfry built a 3-1 halftime lead on Shelby Valley and the Lady Pirates went on to score a 7-1 win in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Monday night.

Myra Bevins scored five goals as Belfry evened its record at 6-6-0. Makenna Justice and Hannah Cobb added one each.

Shelby Valley’s only goal came off the leg of Lauryn Frace Mullins as the Lady Kats dropped to 2-7-0.

Belfry never managed to get a single shot on goal as Lexington Catholic rolled to a 10-0 mercy-rule win over the Pirates in the Kentucky 2A state tournament  played at Steele Stadium in Owensboro on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Rico Lee finished with 24 saves as the Knights took 42 shots on goal.

Belfry dropped to 3-3-0.

Greenup County…2

Johnson Central….1

Johnson Central came up short in a close match with Greenup County, falling 2-1in the road match on Saturday.

Shawn Arms scored off an assist by Willie Castle as the Golden Eagles dropped to 6-5-3.

Goalkeeper Tate Cox finished with 12 saves.

Lawrence County..7

Martin County……0

Lawrence County goalkeeper Trenton Adkins was outstanding between the pipes as the Bulldogs shut out Martin County, 7-0, in a home match played on Saturday.

Luke Johnson scored four goals as the Bulldogs moved to 8-2-1. Blake Maynard knocked home three goals and assisted on two others.

Brian Nelson and Matt Clevenger had one assist each.

Powell County…..2

Letcher Central went on the road to Powell County and earned a 5-2 win in a match played on Saturday.

Javier Polly finished with a hat trick while Skylar Holbrook and Jacob Hughes added one goal apiece.

Conner Bowling and Lance Whitaker had one assist each as the Cougars improved to 3-7-1.

Goalkeeper Nate Cook had 25 saves.

Belfry ran out to a four-goal, halftime lead against Hazard and went on to score 10-0 win in a road match played on Saturday.

Hannah Cobb had a big day with four goals and Myra Bevins added three ad the Lafy Pirates improved 5-6-0.

Kinzie Jackson, Dakota Warren and Hayleigh Fletcher added one goal each.

Belfry took 26 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Jazzy Cline recorded the shutout. She stopped all three Hazard shots on goal.

Boyd County goalkeeper Sofie Stevens scored her fourth straight shutout as the Lady Lions blanked Pikeville, 3-0, in a match played at Bob Amos Soccer Complex on Saturday.

Laci Boyd, Abbi Borders, and Allyson Vipperman scored one goal each.

Pikeville goalkeeper Larren Collins stopped 25 shots as the Lady Panthers fell to 4-5-1.

Letcher Central went on the road and beat Powell County, 3-1, in a match played on Saturday.

Angelina Acevedo, Skylar Frazier, and Rylee Lewis all scored an unassisted goal each.

Goalkeeper Harley Driskell had 12 saves as the Lady Cougars moved to 6-6-0.
