HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Prestonsburg, JC, Pikeville reach title matches; LCC in girls

Defending champion Prestonsburg beat cross-town rival Paintsville, 12-0, to reach the championship match of the 57th District tournament at The Rock on Tuesday night.

Ryan Rankin and Bryan Amador combined on the shutout as the Blackcats improved to 18-2.

Dylan Moore scored five goals and Amador added three and one assist. Matt Burchett had one goal and finished with six assists.

Isaiah Collins knocked home one goal and had three assists while Brody Boyd and Will Nairn scored one each.

Johnson Central scored the winning goal in overtime to advance to the 57th District tournament finals with a thrilling 2-1 win over Martin County in a match played at The Rock on Tuesday night.

Sawyer Crum and Braydon Staniford scored one goal each as the Golden Eagles moved to 10-8-3. Cory Hammond and Shawn Arms each had an assist.

Goalkeeper Tate Cox stopped seven shots.

After not having fielded a soccer team this past season, Pikeville has advanced to the 58th District tournament championship match following a narrow 2-1 win over Belfry at Lawrence County High School on Tuesday night.

Trey Hancock scored both goals, including the game winner on a penalty kick, as the Panthers moved to 5-9-2. Noah Howie had an assist.

Bryson Collins had eight saves between the pipes.

Belfry’s lone goal was scored by Dalton Stacy. Goalkeeper Tyler Slone had six stops. The Pirates finish the year at 4-8.

Letcher Central punched its ticket to the 53rd District tournament finals with a 9-0 win over Hazard in a match played at Cougar Field on Tuesday night.

Skylar Frazier and Rylee Lewis scored three goals and assisted on two others each as the Lady Cougars improved to 9-7.

Angelina Acevedo added two goals and Elizabeth Mullins scored one.
