The Shelby Valley Bat Kats scored three runs in the top of the first inning and went on to beat Paintsville, 8-3, in the 15th Region All “A” Classic Tournament softball championship game played on the home turf Sunday.
It was the team’s first title since 2008.
Olivia Bowling had three hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored once. Riley Fleming doubled and scored while Emily Adkins singled in one run and scored.
Lindsey Reed and Dailey Damron each had a hit and batted in one run.
Lily Napier pitched two outs into the third inning to earn the win.
Losing pitcher Laney Bledsoe doubled in one run and scored. Maggie Music added an RBI single. Chessa Collins doubled and singled.
