HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Lawrence County, Pike Central win 2A openers; Man blanks rival Logan

Lawrence County rallied to score five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to get past Belfry, 9-7, in the Kentucky 2A, Section 8 opener played in Louisa on Monday night.

Kensley Feltner belted a home run, scored two runs, and drove in two while Gracie Preece added two singles and batted in two. Bree Jones collected two hits and added a pair of RBIs.

Allie Triplett was the winning pitcher.

Belfry’s Cameron Childers had a big night with a home run and single while driving in four runs. Natalie Fite added three hits, including a double, walked twice. She scored three times.

Lindsey Phillips reached base four times, with two singles and two walks, and scored three runs. Losing pitcher Molly Fahm doubled and singled while batting in a pair of runs.

Man ace pitcher Morgan Cooper tossed a one-hit shutout as the Lady Billies defeated rival Logan, 8-0, in a game played at home on Monday night.

Kaylee Hicks, hitting in the ninth spot, had three hits, one a double, scored twice and drove in four runs. Ashlee Tomblin doubled in two runs while Baylee Muncy doubled and singled. Olivia Ramsey singled and scored twice.

Harlee Quick singled for the Lady Wildcats. Chloe Bryant was the losing pitcher.
