Kentucky high school sports, at least those played outdoors, received news an easing of mask rules has received the blessing of Gov. Andy Beshear, along with the Department of Public Health.
KHSAA member schools, as well as many middle schools, are no longer required to mask up, providing there are less than 1,000 spectators in attendance.
The new mandate includes uniformed players, coaches, officials, and fans. This includes baseball, softball, track and field and tennis, as well as bass fishing and lacrosse.
Spring football practice has received a green light.
School districts will determine if fall outdoor sports will be cleared to participate without a mask.
The KHSAA, along with state officials, said masks and face coverings can still be implemented for any COVID-related situation.
