HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Floyd Central, Pikeville, Lawrence County score wins

Floyd Central won a close fifth set to hold off Knott Central, winning 3-2 in a home match played on Monday night. 

Emma Bailey finished with 16 kills, three blocks and three digs in the 25-10, 25-19, 15-25, 20-25 and 15-13 win. 

Jaydn Hall was outstanding with 12 kills and 24 digs while Maddy Wade added 24 digs and two aces. 

Taylor Hamilton collected 40 assists, seven digs and five aces. Jerri Hatfield had 16 digs.

East Ridge……1 

Pikeville built a two-set lead against East Ridge and went on to score a 301 win in a match played at the T.W. Oliver Memorial gymnasium on Monday night. 

Lindy Gearheart had four kills, 30 assists, 13 digs and two serving aces in the 25-15, 25-21, 28-30, and 29-27 win. 

Kylie Hall finished with 11 kills and 16 digs while Raegan Mullins finished with 11 kills, 13 digs and three aces. 

Caroline Wright totaled four kills, 24 digs and four aces. Olivia Williamson had 10 kills, three kills, and eight digs. Cate Sayers finished with 19 digs.

Lawrence County dominated from the opening serve in beating Morgan County, 3-0, in a match played on Monday night. 

Sophie Adkins had 16 kills and six digs in the 25-8, 25-3, and 25-0 home win. 

Timmy Ellis finished with 22 serving aces and nine digs while Ally Huffman totaled 10 kills, one block, four digs and four aces.  

Grace Blevins finished with 25 assists and five digs.

Emma Bailey had 11 kills and two blocks as Floyd Central scored a 2-0 win over Pike County Central in the Kentucky 2A, Section 8 tournament played on Sept. 8. 

Jadyn Hall finished with three kills, one block and 23 digs while Taylor Hamilton added two kills, one block, 25 assists and eight digs. 

Maddy Wade had 13 digs. 

Pike Central’s Livia Sanders totaled 27 digs in the loss. Kailey Syck added five assists and 13 digs while Emalie Tackett finished with three kills and 15 digs.

Shelby Valley went on the road and defeated Pikeville, 3-1, in a match played at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Sept. 8. 

Kyra Looney had 12 kills and 17 digs in the 25-16, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-22 win. 

Miley Riddle totaled 11 kills, one block, 17 assists, six digs and two aces. Caroline Fuller finished with eight kills, 18 assists and eight digs. 

Jessica Prater totaled 29 digs and three aces while Makaya Price collected 10 digs. 

Pikeville’s Kylie Hall had 11 kills and 12 digs in the loss. Raegan Mullins finished with 10 kills, one block and five digs. 

Olivia Williamson added six kills and two blocks while Cate Sayers totaled 22 digs. Caroline Wright had 31 assists and 10 digs.

Floyd Central rallied from a one set deficit to edge Belfry, 2-1, in the Kentucky 2A, Section 8 tournament played on Sept. 7. 

Jaydn Hall collected 14 kills, 13 digs and four serving aces in the 21-25, 25-10 and 25-17 win. 

Taylor Hamilton had three kills, 34 assists, six digs and one ace while Kendyll Hall added 12 digs and three aces. Emma Bailey finished with five kills and three blocks.

Shelby Valley won a close opening set, and the Lady Kats went on to blank Tug Valley, 3-0, in a match played at the Shelby Valley Sports Center on Sept. 7.

Miley Riddle totaled 13 kills, 11 assists and five digs while Jessica Prater added 19 digs and three kills.

Pike Central overcame a one-set deficit to knock off Magoffin County, 2-1, in a match played on Sept. 7. 

Livia Sanders totaled 43 digs in the 22-25, 25-13 and 25-20 win. 

Emalie Tackett finished with 11 kills, 16 digs and three aces while Ashley Sanders added seven kills, two blocks, 10 digs and one ace. 

Magoffin County’s Alyssa Torices had four kills, two blocks, and eight digs. Allie Rodriguez totaled 12 digs and four aces while Makenna Jordan collected six kills, three assists, nine digs and three aces.

Jaydn Hall led the way with 10 kills, 17 digs and two aces in the 28-26 and 25-15 win. 

McKinnley Martin added nine kills and 11 digs while Taylor Hamilton added two kills, 29 assists and six digs. 

Letcher Central’s Charlee Hale had six kills, five digs and four aces in the loss. Keira Couch added four kills and four blocks while Alli Back finished with 17 assists.

Tia Wesley added five kills and two digs in the 25-8 and 25-13 win. Mallory Hall had seven digs. 

Prestonsburg’s Mya Burgess totaled eight digs in the loss. Kennedy Greer followed with two kills, six digs and one ace.
