HS BASKETBALL: Pikeville wins 67th annual PIT

PIKEVILLE – The Pikeville Panthers returned home from Gatlinburg, Tenn., to host the 67th annual Pikeville Invitational Tournament this past weekend at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium.

Pikeville took the title with a dominating performance against Louisville Southern, rolling 77-57 in the matchup played Dec. 28.

Rylee Samons poured in 27 points and Laithan Hall added 20 as the Panthers moved to 6-4. Grayson Harris added 11 and Seth Pugh chipped in nine.

PIKEVILLE – Pikeville overcame an early deficit, sparks by its half-court pressure defense to rally past Scott, 78-65, in the opening round of the 67th annual Pikeville Invitational Tournament played at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Dec. 27.

Laithan Hall led four players in double figure scoring with 19 points. Connor Byers followed with 17 while Grayson Harris tossed in 15 and Rylee Samons added 14.

PIKEVILLE – Pike Central struggled offensively early on and Southern took advantage and rolled to a 65-53 victory in the 67th annual Pikeville Invitational Tournament played at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Dec. 28.

Jake Young fired in a game-high 25 points for the Hawks, now 3-8. Bryce Adkins followed with 11.
