HS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Belfry runs past ER; Tug Valley falls

GOODY – Belfry overcame an early deficit to defeat East Ridge, 89-73, in the season opener played on Tuesday night.

Austin Hager poured in 18 points to lead four Pirates (1-0) in double figure scoring. Isaac Dixon added 12, Brett Coleman and Sal Dean added 11 each.

Cameron Hess paced the Warriors (0-2) with 15 points while Dalton Wellman tallied 13 and Eli Rose hit for 11.

NAUGATUCK – Tug Valley’s late surge against Greater Beckley Christian came up short as the Panthers dropped the season opener, 64-59, in a game played the TVHS  Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

Caleb May led the Panthers (0-1) with a game-high 25 points. Ethan Colegrove chipped in 12.
