HS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Lady Cards edge Lady Pirates

GOODY – Martin County held on in the closing seconds to escape with a 52-51 victory over Belfry in a game played on Monday night.

Madison Thompson fired in 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Lady Cardinals moved to 16-7. Lynndsey Cassell and Kristen Isaac followed with 14 points apiece. Isaac also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Katie Ball paced Belfry (12-12) with 20 points and 14 boards while Cushi Fletcher added 13 points.

ROBINSON CREEK – Letcher Central’s Kaylee Banks finished with a double-double to lead the Lady Cougars to a thrilling 53-52 win over Shelby Valley in a game played at the Shelby Valley Sports Center on Monday night.

Banks had 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Lady Cougars improved to 19-8. Brooklynn Collins followed with 13 points and eight boards while Keira Couch and Loren Boggs added nine points each.

Cassidy Rowe paced the Lady Cats (15-8) with 12 points and Alyssa Elswick finished with 10. Laci Johnson tossed in nine and Kelsey Owens added eight.
