HS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Pikeville bounces Shelby Valley

ROBINSON CREEK – Pikeville won for the fifth straight time as the Lady Panthers captured the 59th District’s top seed with a 56-46 win over rival Shelby Valley in a game played at the Shelby Valley Sports Center on Thursday night.

The Panthers, now 17-4, avenged a 10-point loss to the Lady Cats (13-7) in the All “A” Classic with the 10-point win.

Pikeville will face either Jenkins or East Ridge in the 59th District tournament once the regular season is concluded.

Kelsey Jo Tackett had 15 points and Kirsten Cole-Williamson added 12 as Pikeville built a double-digit, first-half lead. Lexi Wilkerson tossed in 10 and Trinity Rowe added nine.

Alyssa Elswick led all scorers for the Lady Cats with 16 points. Alyssa Newsom tossed in 10.

PHELPS – Phelps landed three players in double figure scoring as the Hornets run past East Ridge, 60-46, in a game played at the McCoy Athletic Center on Thursday night.

Dom Francis led all scorers for Phelps, now 12-10, with 18 points while Trey Francis followed with 16. Landon Dotson tossed in 10. Jason Casey added eight.

Isaac Woods paced the Warriors (6-12) with 12 points and Braxton Stanley tossed in 11. Eli Rose had seven.
