Season to feature 19 matches with 10 at The Bell
The Kentucky Men’s Soccer team announced its 2022 schedule including dates, opponents and locations, Wednesday morningfeaturing a nine-game Sun Belt Conference schedule and 10 games at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.
The Wildcats will open their fall campaign with a pair of scrimmages, facing Evansville (Aug. 14) on the road and Northern Kentucky (Aug. 19) at The Bell.
Following the friendly contests, Kentucky will begin its regular season schedule with a four-match homestand beginning against the University of Illinois-Chicago (Aug. 25) and Seattle on Aug. 29.The homestand closes against Belmont (Sept. 2) and in-state rival Louisville (Sept. 6).
The Cats will then travel to Tulsa (Sept. 11) for the first regular-season road match of its 2022 season.
Kentucky will play a 10-match Sun Belt Conference season composed of five home matches and five on the road with Marshall marking the first home match in the Cats’ new conference on Friday, Sept. 16. The contest against the Thundering Herd will be joined this season by Lipscomb (Sept. 20), Georgia Southern (Oct. 9), non-conference opponent Dayton (Oct. 12) before hosting conference opponents Coastal Carolina (Oct. 19) and Old Dominion (Oct. 28) at The Bell.
The Sun Belt away contests will include five matchups starting with a Sept. 24 road trip to Georgia State followed by James Madison on Oct. 1. The Cats will also travel to non-conference rival Indiana (Oct. 5) before continuing its conference play at West Virginia (Oct. 15), and finally South Carolina (Nov. 1) to conclude the regular-season schedule.
The 2022 Sun Belt Conference Tournament will begin with its quarterfinal round on Nov. 6 with semifinals and finals to follow. The location for the tournament is still to be determined. The winner will clinch the Sun Belt’s automatic bid into the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
Game times and television assignments will be announced at a later date in conjunction with UK’s television partners at ESPN.
Admission to all 10 home matches at The Bell, including next month’s season-opening exhibition contest, are free to the public.
