MOUNTAIN TOP SPORTS: JC, Valley top boys’ poll

Defending 15th Region champion Johnson Central and Shelby Valley lead the first Mountain Top Sports boys’ Super 7 basketball poll released Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles are 2-1 while the Wildcats are 4-2. JC nipped Valley in a meeting already this season, 56-53.

Belfry (3-0) claims the No. 3 spot, followed by Prestonsburg (3-1) at No. 4 and Pikeville (2-2) is fifth.

Martin County (3-3) is sixth, followed by Lawrence County (3-3).

Phelps (4-3), Paintsville (1-1) and Betsy Layne (3-2) received votes
