The Shelby Valley Lady Cats have moved into the No. 1 position in the latest Mountain Top Sports girls’ Super 7 basketball poll released on Tuesday.
Valley, 11-5, has won four straight and six of their last seven, including Monday’s win over Phelps to win the 15th Region All “A” Classic championship.
The Lady Cats are followed by Pikeville, which dropped from the top spot for the first time this season. The Lady Panthers are now 12-4.
Letcher Central moves into the No. 3 spot with a 12-5 mark. The Lady Cougars are followed by Martin County (9-5) in fourth.
Rounding out the poll are Mingo Central (7-3) at fifth, Phelps (11-6) is sixth and Tug Valley (8-2) is seventh. It’s the Lady Panthers first time being ranked among the top seven.
Chapmanville (9-2), Floyd Central (6-5), Lawrence County (9-7) and Belfry (7-7) received votes.
