WILDCATS THE FIRST PIKE COUNTY TEAM TO WIN REGIONAL
The Shelby Valley Wildcats girls’ volleyball team took the A A 15th Regional tournament and will next be heading to the state tournament and next have their sites on the state title.
This past Friday afternoon the girls played two pool games against Raceland and Crittenden County, finishing with wins against both. The following day, they fell to Sayre, but with two of three games won placed in the Elite 8 championship bracket.
The Wildcats played their first bracket game against Owensboro Catholic and won that match to place them in the semifinals as one of the top four teams to compete for the state championship.
Ultimately, the game against St. Henry ended in defeat. St. Henry went on to win the All A State Tournament.
Named to the All A Classic All Tournament Team were Shelby Valley’s Miley Riddle and Makaya Price.
