SWEET 16 TOURNAMENT: Ashland Blazer beats Owensboro on late basket

Ashland Blazer’s Braxton Jennings hit a three-point basket with 18 seconds left to lift the Tomcats to a thrilling 66-65 win over Owensboro in the nightcap of the opening round of the boys’ Sweet 16 tournament played at Rupp Arena on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils took three shots as time was running out but good not convert.

Ashland improved to 23-11 and will next face Warren Central on Friday.

Zander Carter paced the Tomcats with 25 points and Rheyce DeBoard followed with 17. Jennings added 10.

Kenyatta Carbon paced Owensboro with 22 points.
