15TH REGION SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT: Lady Eagles win fourth straight title

Johnson Central scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and the Lady Eagles went on to beat Lawrence County, 13-5, in the 15th Region softball tournament championship game played at StoneCrest on Wednesday night.

It was the fourth straight tournament title and moved the Lady Eagles to 27-9 on the season.

JC pounded out 14 hits, including home runs off the bats of Keylee Blair, Randi Delong, Sophie Younce and Mason Delong. Winning pitcher Maddie Vaughn added a double.

Randi Delong also walked, scored twice, and drove in four runs, Mayson Delong finished with three hits, batted in two runs, and scored four runs. Blair and Vaughn added a pair of RBIs each.

Jada Patton doubled and singled in the loss. She batted in two runs. Gracie Preece had two hits, scored once, and added an RBI. Bree Jones collected two hits and scored.

Taylor Blevins was the losing pitcher. Lawrence County’s season ends at 27013.
