Lawrence County exploded for 10 runs in the second inning and defeated Pike County Central, 15-0, in the opening round of the 15th Region tournament played at Belfry’s Massey Energy Field on Tuesday night.
Pitchers Jake Derifield and Talon Pollock combined to toss a no-hitter as the Bulldogs improved to 27-7 and won their 12th straight game.
Eli Fletcher singled and scored while knocking in three runs. Will Lafferty tripled and singled, walked, scored three times, and added an RBI.
Luke Patton singled in one run and scored a pair. Mason Prater added an RBI single and scored. Abner Collinsworth singled and walked while scoring two runs.
Ben Huffman took the loss as the Hawks finished 16-15.

Paintsville pitcher Ashton Miller struck out nine and allowed just two hits as the Tigers blanked Shelby Valley, 6-0, in the opening round of the 15th Region tournament played at Belfry’s Massey Energy Field on Tuesday night.
AJ James had a three-run triple and Gunner Collins hit a home run, scored two runs, and drove in two. Harris Phelps doubled twice and scored one run as the Tigers moved to 23-13.
Hunter Mullins and Samuel Brown both singled in the loss as the Wildcats season ended at 18-11. Jackson Robinson was the losing pitcher.
