HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Hawks, Lady Hawks fall in 2A title games

Pike Central’s effort to reach a first state level tournament came up short as Boyd County turned back the Hawks, 68-55, in the Kentucky 2A, Section 8 championship game played at the Hawks nest on Saturday night.

Jaden Stewart finished with a double-double in the loss with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jaylan Rigdon tossed in 14 points and Peyton Owens tallied 11.

The Hawks, now 6-7, hit just eight of 27 three-point goals.

Pike Central struggled from the very outset as Boyd County scored a 70-42 win over the Lady Hawks in the Kentucky 2A, Section 8 championship game played at the Hawks nest on Saturday night.

Hannah May finished with 17 points in the loss and Lindsey Bowman added 14.

Central fell to 7-7.
